The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Tuesday the creation of a new task force designed to accelerate the delivery of advanced technology to deployed forces.
The Rapid Employment Joint Task Force (REJTF), led by Chief Technology Officer Joy Shanaberger, will oversee innovation efforts in three key areas: capability, software, and tech diplomacy, building on progress made by Service-component task forces in previous years.
“Our goal is to rapidly deliver innovation, meaning putting combat-credible capability into the hands of our warfighters in 60 days or less,” said Shanaberger. “Equipping skilled warfighters faster with cutting-edge capabilities will deter bad actors.”
According to CENTCOM, the REJTF will assemble experts across resourcing, assessments, information systems, data integration, acquisitions, logistics, and warfighter integration.
Its creation follows a July directive from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to fast-track the acquisition and deployment of cost-effective drone technology for combat units.
