The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had carried out precision airstrikes targeting underground weapons storage facilities operated by the Houthi movement in Yemen.
The strikes were part of a continued effort to degrade the capabilities of the Iranian-backed group, which has been accused of threatening military and commercial vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The airstrikes targeted two underground hubs storing advanced conventional weaponry, which CENTCOM stated had been used in attacks on U.S. Navy vessels and merchant ships in the region. The exact location of the facilities has not been disclosed.
CENTCOM confirmed that no U.S. personnel were injured and no equipment was damaged during the operation.
The recent strikes follow a pattern of intensified U.S. operations against Houthi targets. Last December, CENTCOM conducted strikes near Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, hitting a command center, weapons production site, and missile and drone storage bunkers.
The Houthis, who control large parts of northern Yemen, have previously claimed responsibility for attacks on U.S. and allied targets.
The operation against the Houthis coincides with CENTCOM’s broader campaign targeting terrorist groups like ISIS in Iraq and Syria. In the past week, U.S. forces conducted strikes in Iraq’s Hamrin mountains, capturing an ISIS leader and eliminating militants.
