American soldiers joined Lithuanian knights in a military parade in Vilnius to celebrate the 105th Lithuanian Armed Forces Day. The parade featured around 1,400 participants and 100 pieces of military equipment, with five knights in medieval armor as a prominent highlight. These knights, dressed in chainmail and plate armor and bearing historic Lithuanian symbols, stood at the forefront of the gathering, alongside troops from various NATO member states.

Key Points:

  1. On the 105th Lithuanian Armed Forces Day, a military parade took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, celebrating the reestablishment of the nation’s sovereign armed forces after World War I.
  2. The parade featured five Lithuanian knights in medieval armor, armed with spears, shields, axes, and swords, and adorned with the Columns of Gediminas, a historic Lithuanian coat of arms.
  3. American soldiers, along with troops from NATO member states like the United States, Germany, France, and Norway, participated in the celebration, showcasing their military presence.
  4. While knights in medieval armor are no longer practical for modern combat, the tradition of honoring military history and heritage persists in events like this parade.
