At least three people were killed and nine injured early Wednesday when a Ukrainian missile struck a building in the Belgorod region, local authorities said.
Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the strike hit the village of Maslova Pristan, about 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
According to Gladkov, two men and a woman were killed, and rescue workers searched for others possibly trapped under debris.
“A public building was partially destroyed. Roofs, windows, balconies, and facades of two apartment buildings were damaged, and five cars were hit by shrapnel,” Gladkov added.

On Wednesday, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported intercepting nearly 30 Ukrainian drones over Belgorod overnight and more than 50 across the country.
It was the second deadly attack on the border area this week. Monday’s earlier strike on Belgorod city killed two people and damaged energy infrastructure, cutting power to about 40,000 residents across seven municipalities.
Ukraine did not comment on the latest incident.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a Russian attack on Kherson killed an elderly couple, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said.
