A Ukrainian drone strike targeted the Taneko oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, one of Russia’s largest oil-processing facilities, Russia said on Saturday.

According to Russian Telegram channel ASTRA, the attack caused a fire at the refinery, prompting an evacuation of workers. No casualties were reported.

Taneko refinery processes over 16 million tons of oil annually and is a key supplier of fuel to Russia’s military operations.

Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation head Andrii Kovalenko, who also confirmed the strike, emphasized the importance of targeting infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort.

In recent days, Ukraine has launched drone strikes across multiple Russian regions, including Saratov, Engels, and Tambov. In Engels, drones struck an oil depot supplying Russia’s strategic bomber base, Engels-2, which houses Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers used for missile strikes on Ukraine.

Russian authorities on Saturday reported intercepting and destroying 85 Ukrainian drones in various regions overnight, including 31 over the Black Sea and 16 in the Voronezh and Krasnodar regions. Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched 74 drones at Ukrainian targets during the same period, of which 47 were intercepted.
