According to reports, Kulaga was hit by a Ukrainian First Person View (FPV) kamikaze drone while returning from an assignment. The drone struck his quad bike, causing an explosion that resulted in serious injuries.Â
Kulaga sustained multiple injuries, including shrapnel wounds to both legs, burns to his limbs and face, and fractures in his lower legs. After being stabilized on the field, he was evacuated to the city of Artyomovsk (formerly Bakhmut) for initial treatment before being transferred to a hospital for further care.
