The Trump administration has asked Congress to approve a $6.4 billion arms package for Israel, including advanced attack helicopters and thousands of armored vehicles, according to Reuters.
The report states that of the total, $3.8 billion would fund 30 AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters, while $1.9 billion is allocated for 3,250 armored infantry vehicles. Delivery of the equipment is expected within two to three years.
The sale would mark Israel’s first acquisition of the AH-64E, Boeing’s most advanced Apache. The Guardian variant features upgraded sensors, extended-range targeting, and manned-unmanned teaming capabilities. Israel currently flies the older AH-64A and AH-64D models.
The request comes as Israel escalates its offensive in Gaza, an operation that has drawn condemnation from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and European governments. A United Nations report this week concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, an allegation the country dismissed as “fake” and based on “Hamas falsehoods.”
Despite pushback, U.S. support for Israel has continued. This year alone, the administration has approved roughly $12 billion in major arms deals for Israel, including a June package of bomb guidance kits.
