The United States Coast Guard executed a timely rescue operation, saving 33 individuals from a sinking vessel in deep waters near the Haiti coast. The incident, reported by the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Dependable, occurred approximately six miles north of Cap-Haitien, amidst challenging weather conditions.

During the rescue operation, the US Coast Guard’s Cutter Dependable responded swiftly to the distress call, with crew members efficiently evacuating all 33 people from the imperiled vessel. The rescue was executed under difficult circumstances, including heavy seas and a rapidly sinking boat. According to Lt. j.g. Chelsea Chamberlain, a Coast Guard District Seven enforcement officer, the timely intervention by the Dependable’s crew was critical in preventing a potential tragedy at sea. All rescued individuals were subsequently transferred to Haitian authorities in good health, marking a successful conclusion to the rescue mission.
