A U.S. military airstrike in northwestern Syria killed a senior finance and logistics official from the al-Qaeda-affiliated group Hurras al-Din, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
The operation, carried out last February 15, marks the second U.S. operation against Hurras al-Din leadership in just over two weeks. On January 30, another airstrike killed Muhammad Salah al-Za’bir, a high-ranking member of the same group.

CENTCOM described the official as a key figure responsible for overseeing financial and logistical support for the group. The military did not immediately release the identity of the individual or specify whether others were killed in the strike.
However, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that two operatives were targeted in a vehicle near the town of Uram al-Jawz. Witnesses in the area said multiple drones were seen overhead at the time of the attack.
“We will continue to relentlessly pursue terrorists in order to defend our homeland and U.S., allied, and partner personnel in the region,” CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael Kurilla said in a statement.
Hurras al-Din was founded in 2018 and designated a terrorist organization by the United States in 2019. The group, which once had thousands of fighters, has been significantly weakened by years of U.S.-led airstrikes.
While Hurras al-Din announced its dissolution last month following directives from al-Qaeda leadership, U.S. officials maintain that remnants of the group continue to pose a threat.
The U.S. has maintained a military presence in Syria as part of the broader fight against ISIS and other jihadist groups. In recent months, American forces have intensified operations against militant leaders, including a separate airstrike last week in Iraq that targeted five ISIS operatives.
