The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) reportedly used cutting-edge Enhanced Night Vision Goggle-Binoculars (ENVG-B) to defeat a planned Russian counterattack near the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye in the Kursk region.

A Euromaidan report stated that during the recent battle, Russian officers deployed North Korean forces in large formations of 20 to 100 soldiers, particularly during night assaults, believing the cover of darkness would help them break through Ukrainian positions.

A small number of Ukrainian SOF units have reportedly begun to field advanced AN/PSQ-42 ENVG-B night vision devices.

However, Ukraine, equipped with advanced ENVG-B night vision goggles, was able to spot enemy movements with exceptional clarity even in total darkness, fog, and snowstorms. By marking enemy silhouettes, the technology allegedly gave Ukrainian forces a decisive advantage, which allowed them to neutralize significant portions of the North Korean forces before they could reach Ukrainian positions.

The ENVG-B is a dual-imaging system that combines white phosphor and thermal vision. The system connects wirelessly with weapons, projecting targeting information directly into the goggles.

Weighing between 1.5 pounds (objective) and 2.5 pounds (threshold), the ENVG-B system is both lightweight and durable. It boasts an operational battery life of over 7.5 hours, with a target of reaching 15 hours, ensuring dependable performance during extended missions.

The ENVG-B enables users to overlay real-time data, delivering enhanced situational awareness similar to heads-up displays in video games. This cutting-edge feature enhances precision targeting, accelerates engagement, and improves operational safety.

The ENVG-B is developed by American technology company L3Harris.
