The KOP-2 is an experimental system designed to detect and jam drones by scanning a broad radio frequency range and emitting targeted interference. Russian forces deploy it to shield critical assets.
“It’s a costly and rare piece of equipment, typically used to protect high-value targets, such as air defense systems,” the 424th Battalion said.
The operation follows recent Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russian air defense infrastructure.
Ukraine has been expanding its use of drones and robotic systems on the battlefield to reduce troop exposure to frontline dangers.
In response to recent large-scale drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, Kyiv has stepped up its own drone operations against Moscow. This week, Ukraine launched dozens of drones toward the Russian capital and other regions.
