On Thursday, Ukrainian drones targeted and set ablaze two Russian oil refineries, according to local officials. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) confirmed that drones hit the fuel and lubricants warehouse of Tambovnefteprodukt in the Tambov region and the Enemskaya oil depot of LUKOIL-Yugnefteprodukt in the Adygea Republic.Â
In the Tambov region, Governor Maksim Yegorov reported an explosion and fire at the Platonovskaya oil depot early Thursday morning, likely caused by a drone strike. The incident resulted in no casualties. Similarly, in the Adygea Republic, regional governor Murat Kumpilov noted a fire at an oil depot in the village of Enem, which spread over 400 square meters before being extinguished by emergency services.

These attacks follow another strike earlier this week, where Ukrainian drones targeted oil storage tanks near the town of Azov in Rostov, causing significant fires. The SBU’s strategy, referred to as “drone sanctions,” aims to disrupt the Russian oil refining complex, thereby limiting resources available for the Russian military efforts. This approach seeks to impose additional economic burdens on Russia, already strained by international sanctions and economic challenges.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, Russian drone attacks continue to inflict damage. In Lviv, a 70-year-old man was hospitalized, and a residential building was damaged following a drone strike. Additionally, Ukrainian military officials reported ongoing battles in the Donetsk region, with Russian forces pushing towards Chasiv Yar and threatening key supply routes.
