A Ukrainian drone strike hit a railway station in the southern Russian town of Salsk in Rostov Oblast early Tuesday, according to Russian officials.
The strike marked the fourth attack on rail infrastructure in the Rostov region this July. Videos shared on social media appear to show large flames rising from the site.

In a Telegram post, Rostov’s acting governor, Yuriy Slyusar, said there were no casualties at the station. However, he reported that a car was struck on Ostrovskogo Street, near the station, killing the driver. “We are working to identify the victim,” he said.
Russian Railways said at least nine long-distance trains were delayed following the strike. Service at Salsk station was suspended for several hours but later resumed on a limited basis.

According to the Ukrainian Khorne Group military unit, the drones that struck the Salsk station appeared to be targeting “a train carrying military equipment and fuel and lubricants.” The Ukrainian media outlet Militarnyi suggested that the target of the drone strike was “a military train of the Russian occupation forces moving toward the Ukrainian border.”
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Exilenova+ Telegram channel reported another fire near the village of Orlovsky in Rostov Oblast, where a drone allegedly struck a traction substation that supplies power to railway infrastructure.
Although Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the Salsk strike, the attack follows a pattern of similar operations. In recent weeks, drones have struck Kamennolomni station and damaged power lines near Likhaya, causing delays to more than 130 trains.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its forces shot down a total of 74 Ukrainian drones overnight across various regions of the country, including 22 over Rostov Oblast.
