Newly released drone footage shows a Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system in Crimea failing to intercept an incoming Ukrainian drone before a nearby Kasta 2E2 radar is struck and destroyed.
The footage captures the Pantsir firing multiple missiles directly into the ground before the drone hits its target.

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate released footage of a coordinated strike campaign targeting Russian radar systems, air defenses, naval vessels, and a helicopter over several days. According to the agency, the operation resulted in hits on multiple high-value assets, including systems such as the Podlyot, Niobiy-SV, Kasta 2E2, Imbir, Nebo variants, S-300VM, Protivnik-GE, and several Pantsir-S1 units.
The strikes were carried out by Ukraine’s Air Defense Forces with support from the Security Service (SBU). Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels (USVs) were reportedly used to launch FPV drones at land-based targets, building on tactics first reported by SOFX in January, when sea-launched FPV drones struck Russian positions in Kherson Oblast.
Since late 2024, Ukraine has expanded its use of USVs like the ‘Magura V5’ and ‘Sea Baby,’ equipping them to deploy multiple aerial drones behind enemy lines. The systems have been used to attack oil platforms, naval targets, and even down a Russian Mi-8 helicopter with repurposed air-to-air missiles.
Ukraine’s growing use of sea-based drones has allowed it to target strategic assets deep behind Russian lines, using low-cost systems to neutralize equipment worth tens of millions of dollars.
