Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has released footage of its anti-aircraft first-person-view (FPV) drone striking a bomb-laden Russian Orion unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
For the first time, Ukrainian FPV interceptors appear to have successfully downed a Russian Orion Medium-altitude long-endurance UAV.

Footage published on the SBU’s Telegram channel shows operators from its “Alpha” Special Operations Center intercepting the Orion drone. The location of the operation was not disclosed.
The video captures the FPV drone striking the UAV’s nose section, likely damaging its avionics and communications systems. While the SBU did not confirm whether the Orion was destroyed, officials said the strike likely rendered it inoperable.
The Orion, developed by Russia’s Kronshtadt Group, is a medium-altitude, long-endurance drone capable of flying for up to 30 hours and carrying up to 200 kilograms of guided munitions, including the UPAB-50 guided gliding bomb and the KAB‑20 small-sized guided aviation bomb.
According to Ukrainian defense sources, this is the first recorded instance of an Orion drone being taken down by an FPV drone.
A similar milestone was achieved in April, when Ukrainian forces downed a Russian Forpost UAV, reportedly worth $7 million, using an FPV drone for the first time.
