Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and navy struck a Russian oil tanker from Moscow’s “shadow fleet” in the Black Sea on Wednesday, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The targeted vessel, identified as Dashan, was en route to Russia’s Novorossiysk port when it was attacked. Ukrainian officials said the tanker sustained “critical damage” and was disabled.
A Ukrainian security source told CNN that Sea Baby maritime drones were deployed in a joint operation. Video footage circulating on social media appears to show the drones striking Dashan at least twice near the engine room.

It was not immediately clear what cargo the vessel was carrying or whether the strike caused an oil spill. Ukrainian media reported that a tanker of this type is worth roughly $30 million and can carry about $60 million worth of petroleum products on a single voyage.
The recent strike, part of Ukraine’s ongoing campaign to disrupt Moscow’s covert oil exports and cut its oil revenues, marked the third attack on Russian tankers in two weeks.
Russia did not immediately comment on the report.
