Ukrainian special forces destroyed a Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region on Sunday, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
GUR said that reconnaissance units detected and struck the 9K317M Buk-M3 near the village of Oleksandrivka.

The Buk-M3, valued at $40–50 million, can intercept targets at ranges of up to 70 kilometers. Ukraine previously reported destroying another system of the same type in June.
Russia has lost more than 1,200 air defense systems since its full-scale invasion began in February 2022, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
The Zaporizhzhia strike follows other Ukrainian attacks on high-value Russian equipment.
On Wednesday, GUR said an FPV drone disabled a Project MPSV07 support vessel near Novorossiysk. The $60 million ship, one of only four of its class, suffered damage to its bridge and electronic warfare systems, leaving it inoperable, according to reports.
