Just hours after Iran launched 14 ballistic missiles at the U.S. military’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, President Donald Trump announced a “complete and total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
The missile attack on Monday came in retaliation for American airstrikes over the weekend on three Iranian nuclear facilities. According to U.S. officials, 13 of the missiles were intercepted, and one landed in a non-threatening area. No casualties or damage to the base were reported.
A U.S. defense official told Fox News that Iran used short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles in the strike.
Trump downplayed the significance of the attack, calling it a “very weak response” and claiming that Iran had given advance notice, allowing U.S. forces to prepare. “We have very effectively countered,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Qatar’s foreign ministry condemned the attack as “brazen aggression,” and confirmed that Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted.
“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar,” spokesperson Majed Al Ansari posted on X.

Soon after the strike, Trump took to Truth Social to announce a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.
“Congratulations to everyone!” he declared. “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire… at which point the war will be considered ended.”
Trump outlined a phased ceasefire: Iran will initiate the first 12-hour halt in hostilities, followed by Israel, which will begin its 12-hour ceasefire after the initial period ends. At the 24-hour mark, Trump said, the international community will “salute” the official end of the conflict.
“I would like to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, on having the stamina, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called “the 12-day war.” This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will,” Trump added.
Neither Israel nor Iran has confirmed the ceasefire.
