In a statement, the WFP said the supplies were intended for distribution. It added that humanitarian needs in Gaza have “spiraled out of control” following an Israeli blockade that lasted nearly three months and was eased last week. The agency warned, “Gaza needs an immediate scale-up of food assistance.”
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S. and Israeli-backed organization, currently oversees aid distribution in Gaza.
Earlier this week, the GHF opened two food centers near Rafah in southern Gaza. Thousands of Palestinians stormed one of the sites, where Hamas-run media reported that Israeli forces killed three people and injured dozens.

On Thursday, the foundation opened its third distribution center in central Gaza. A fourth food center is scheduled to open soon in Khan Yunis, mid-southern Gaza.
As of Thursday, the GHF delivered a total of 997,920 meals, bringing the total meals distributed to date to approximately 1,838,182.
Meanwhile, the White House announced that Israel has accepted a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal, which reportedly includes a 60-day pause and expanded aid to Gaza through U.N. channels. Reuters reported that Hamas is still reviewing the proposal although its terms do not meet the group’s demands.
