For the future Artemis III trip to the Moon, NASA has presented a new generation of spacesuits with more flexible joints, integrated lights in the helmet, and improved fit for female crew.
NASA has unveiled a new generation of spacesuits designed for the upcoming Artemis III mission to the Moon in 2025. The spacesuits have been specially designed to support astronauts in conducting scientific experiments on the lunar surface, and are a better fit for female space travelers. The prototype, designed by Texas-based company Axiom Space, features joints that provide more flexibility and built-in lights in the helmet, as well as an HD video camera. The spacesuits will be made using advanced manufacturing methods including 3D printers and laser cutters to ensure exact measurements. The new design is part of NASA’s $1bn investment to get two flight-ready spacesuits in time for the Moon mission.
