A senior Russian military intelligence officer has been critically injured in the detonation of a car bomb in Moscow, with Turkish authorities arresting a Russian suspect connected to the attack. The incident occurred on July 24, when an explosive device went off inside a Toyota Land Cruiser in a parking lot, injuring two people.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that Turkish police had detained Yevgeny Serebryakov, a Russian citizen, in Bodrum. Serebryakov allegedly flew from Moscow to Bodrum and is suspected of orchestrating the bombing. Yerlikaya confirmed the arrest via social media, sharing footage of Turkish police detaining Serebryakov.

Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk stated that the explosion was caused by an unidentified device placed under the vehicle. The injured individuals were promptly transported to a medical facility. Russian media reported that one of the injured is a senior defense ministry official, identified as Andrei Torgashov, a deputy head of a military unit specializing in communication. Torgashov reportedly sustained severe injuries, including the loss of his legs.

The motive behind the bombing remains unclear. However, similar incidents have frequently been attributed to Ukrainian special services by Russian officials. This attack adds to a series of bombing incidents targeting Russian military and pro-Kremlin figures since the onset of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Footage of the explosion circulated on social media, showing the moment the device detonated, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle. The incident is under investigation by Russian authorities, who are conducting forensic examinations and operational search measures to uncover further details and identify additional suspects.
