An uninhabited Scottish island of 25 acres, Barlocco Island, is up for sale for around $190,000, but reaching the island is a challenge, and it is designated as a “Site of Special Scientific Interest.”
Barlocco Island, an uninhabited Scottish island of about 25 acres, is on sale for around $190,000. The island has no buildings but features a pebble beach and a flood pond. However, it is not easy to get to the island. Potential buyers must fly to Glasgow and drive for two hours to the nearest town, Gatehouse of Fleet. From there, it’s a six-mile boat ride, or during low tide, it can be accessed on foot or by an all-terrain vehicle over a rock path. The land is designated a “Site of Special Scientific Interest” and is home to various flora, fauna and natural landforms, limiting the possibility of obtaining permission to construct any permanent structure or dwelling. Despite the challenges, agents have received several offers since listing the island for sale.
