Russia has launched one of its largest airstrikes on Ukraine overnight into Tuesday, targeting the capital Kyiv as well as Odesa, the Dnipro, and Chernihiv regions.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched 322 aerial weapons overnight: 315 Iranian-made Shahed drones and seven missiles, including North Korean-made KN-23 ballistic missiles and Iskander-K cruise missiles. Ukrainian defenses successfully intercepted 277 of the drones and all seven missiles.
On the night of June 10, in the Odesa region, warriors of mobile fire groups of the Odesa anti-aircraft missile brigade destroyed 7 enemy strike drones.

Ukrainian officials reported that at least eight people were killed during the attack.
In Kyiv, officials said one person was killed and four others injured. Saint Sophia Cathedral, an 11th-century church and UNESCO World Heritage site in Kyiv, was damaged by the strike. Andrii Sybih, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, described the building as Ukraine’s “most precious heritage of global cultural significance.”

Local authorities reported that two people were killed and nine were injured in Odesa, where several infrastructures, including a maternity hospital and an emergency medical center, were struck.

In other targeted regions, airbombs, artillery, and smaller drone strikes resulted in five deaths and 19 injuries, according to local authorities.
Ukraine reportedly deployed several Ka-32A11BC firefighting helicopters, donated by Portugal last year, to help extinguish fires caused by Russia’s extensive overnight air raid.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned Russia’s attack, calling it “one of the largest” on Kyiv, and once again urged Western nations to take action. “It is vital that the response is not silence, but concrete action,” he said.

The attack comes after Russia’s largest drone strike on Monday, during which it deployed 499 aerial weapons in just one day.
