Russia reportedly began deploying motorcycle units across the frontlines in Ukraine, using dirt bikes for assault, supply runs, and casualty evacuation.
The shift follows heavy losses of armored vehicles to Ukrainian drones.
Since early 2025, Russian forces have been training logistics riders and assault “dragoons” at specialized facilities. A video posted by @wartranslated on Sunday shows one of these training grounds made just for combat biker units.

“The Russian military is formally rolling out combat biker units, with dedicated training grounds for logistics riders and ‘dragoon’ assault bikers,” Popular Front reported. “These units, trained since at least early 2025, ride in groups with electronic warfare gear and small arms, aiming to outflank enemy defenses, quickly reach trenches, deliver supplies or evacuate the wounded.”
The video of the training ground surfaced a month after Ukraine announced the formation of its first assault motorcycle company within the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala,” directly countering Russia’s increasingly aggressive use of motorcycles in frontline attacks.
The move comes after the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warned that Russia is “systematically integrating motorcycles” into its summer-fall campaigns to counter Ukraine’s drone dominance.
