Russia Allegedly Uses Thermobaric “Father of All Bombs” in Attack Caught on Video

Russian forces reportedly struck the Ukrainian town of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region with a powerful bomb, with some sources suggesting the use of the ODAB-9000, a thermobaric weapon known as the “father of all bombs.” Footage shared widely online shows a large explosion, fueling speculation about the use of one of Russia’s most potent non-nuclear weapons. However, Ukrainian officials have disputed these claims, suggesting that a smaller bomb, such as the ODAB-1500 or FAB-3000, may have been used instead.

A video has been posted online that allegedly shows the explosion of a powerful bomb in Vovchansk, Kharkiv region.

Thermobaric bombs work by dispersing fuel into the air, which is then ignited to create a massive explosion and a prolonged blast wave, causing extensive damage over a large area. While pro-Kremlin sources claim the ODAB-9000 was used, military analysts note that deploying such a weapon requires large bombers like the Tu-160, which were not seen in the region. Experts suggest that a smaller guided bomb, such as the FAB-3000, may have been used in the strike.
