The Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operations reportedly uncovered mass graves in the Cal Miskaad mountains of Somalia during recent efforts to capture key ISIS strongholds
According to Puntland Dervish Force, (PDF) they took control of Shebaab, Kayaxa, and surrounding areas in the Cal Miskaad mountains following recent counter-terrorism operations targeting ISIS militants. These operations, supported by airstrikes from the United Arab Emirates and the United States, have led to the elimination of 44 ISIS fighters.

Several bodies were discovered as forces made significant gains. According to the group, mass graves were found in Shebaab, one of which held the remains of senior ISIS leaders.
There are also bodies and a mass grave where the terrorists buried some of their senior members.

During the operations, Puntland forces also uncovered facilities utilized by ISIS for manufacturing explosives and vehicles and motorcycles used by the terror group.

On Tuesday, the Puntland Counterterrorism Operation Forces conducted an operation to eliminate ISIS militants in the Kalriyaad, Saax, and Madaah areas of the Bari region, where three crucial water wells are located.

General Aden Abdi Hashi, leading the counter-terrorism operations, reaffirmed the commitment to purge the region of terrorist elements.
“Not a single meter of Puntland’s land will be allowed to be occupied by terrorists. The counter-terrorism operations will continue, and we will not stop until the last one is either eliminated or surrenders,” he said.
