Operation Prosperity Guardian is a newly formed multinational effort aimed at protecting shipping in the Red Sea. The announcement of this operation comes after 15 Houthi drones were downed by U.S. and British warships in the Red Sea. The U.S. Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, is expected to make the formal announcement during his visit to the Middle East. Operation Prosperity Guardian will focus on addressing Houthi threats and ensuring maritime security in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and Gulf of Aden. While specific details about the participating nations and missions are yet to be disclosed, it is intended to be similar to Task Force 153, which concentrates on international maritime security and capacity-building efforts in the region.
