Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed “revenge” against Hamas after it was revealed that one of the four remains handed over by the group did not match those of Shiri Bibas.
In a ceremony on Thursday, Hamas handed over the remains believed to be that of Shiri, her two young sons, Ariel (4) and Kfir (9 months), as well as 83-year-old Oded Lifshitz as part of its ceasefire agreement with Israel.

Upon forensic examination, the Israeli military determined that three of the four bodies handed over were Kfir and Ariel, along with another captive, Lifshitz. However, it was found that one of the bodies was not Shiri and did not match any other known hostages.
“This is an anonymous, unidentified body,” the military stated in a press release.
In a televised statement, Netanyahu condemned the act as a “cruel and malicious violation” of the ceasefire terms.
“As the prime minister of Israel, I vow that I will not rest until the savages who executed our hostages are brought to justice. They do not deserve to walk this earth. Nothing will stop me. Nothing,” Netanyahu said.
Meanwhile, Hamas has acknowledged a potential mix-up, suggesting it may have resulted from Israeli airstrikes in the area and has committed to conducting a thorough investigation.
Hamas is expected to return six living hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian detainees this Saturday.
Israeli officials estimate that 66 hostages remain in Gaza, including at least 35 who are confirmed dead.
