For their 2023 rivalry game against the United States Military Academy West Point, the Naval Academy’s football team will wear uniforms honoring the U.S. Submarine Force, also known as the “Silent Service.” Designed by Under Armour, these uniforms feature rich blue fabric symbolizing the depths patrolled by submarines, with unique details like a sleeve patch with the Submarine Warfare insignia and helmets adorned with Virginia Class submarines imagery.

Key Points

  1. Tribute to Submarine Force: The 2023 uniforms of the Naval Academy football team honor the U.S. Submarine Force, reflecting the deep-sea operations of Navy submariners.
  2. Unique Design Elements: The uniforms feature a sleeve patch with a historically inspired submarine and dolphins design, and the numbering font mimics submarine hull lettering.
  3. Special Helmet Design: Helmets for the game will have a color-changing paint that simulates submarine radar systems and will display Virginia Class submarines and traditional Navy insignia.
  4. Game Details: The Army-Navy game is scheduled for December 9, 2023, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
  5. Under Armour Collaboration: The uniforms, designed by Under Armour, use “Eclipse Navy” fabric, symbolizing the deep-sea environment of submarines, and include dark blue cleats with a sea swell pattern.
