Israeli security forces arrested three citizens suspected of engaging in espionage activities directed by Iranian intelligence. The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the National Unit for International Investigations disclosed the arrests on Tuesday. The suspects allegedly undertook various tasks aimed at undermining national security, including delivering threatening packages and spreading propaganda.
One of the suspects, 21-year-old Elimelech Stern from Beit Shemesh, was reportedly instructed via the Telegram app by a contact named “Anna Elena.” Stern’s tasks included posting anti-Israel posters, hiding money in public locations, delivering packages with decapitated stuffed animals, and threatening notes alongside knives. He received payment in cryptocurrency for these activities. Stern was charged with illegal contact with a foreign agent, while the two others he recruited are pending further investigation.
