At least 10 people, including Hamas local commander Mohammed Al-Holy, were killed Thursday in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza, Reuters reported.
Reuters said a Hamas police officer, whose name was not disclosed, and senior Islamic Jihad operative Ashraf Al-Khatib were also among those killed in the strikes.
The strikes came a day after the U.S. announced that the Gaza peace plan is entering its next phase, which it described as “the beginning of full demilitarization and reconstruction of Gaza.”
Hamas condemned the strikes on the Al-Holy family in a statement that did not mention Mohammed or his role in the group. The group also accused Israel of violating the ceasefire in place since October and attempting to reignite the conflict.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the incident.
On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces said Hamas militants violated the ceasefire by firing at an Israeli tank operating in southern Gaza on Wednesday. The attackers were subsequently killed by Israeli troops, the military added.

More than 400 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have reportedly been killed since the fragile ceasefire took effect in October.
