The Israeli military said it killed Asaad Abu Sharia, the leader of Hamas-allied terror group Mujahideen Brigades, in an airstrike on a house in Gaza City.
Sharia’s death, along with that of his brother Ahmed Abu Sharia, was confirmed by the militant group just hours after Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that an Israeli airstrike had targeted their family home in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City.
According to Hamas-run Al-Aqsa TV, the strike killed at least 15 people and injured several others.

In a post on X, the Israeli military said that the operation was conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in coordination with Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency.
According to the IDF, Sharia and his group participated in Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and the abduction of 251 hostages
The Israeli military also accused Sharia and his group of being responsible for the abductions and subsequent murders of several hostages, including Shiri Bibas and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, as well as the abduction and killing of the Israeli-American couple Gad and Judi Haggai and Thai hostage Nattapong Pinta.
The military recovered the bodies of the Haggai couple from Gaza on Wednesday night, while Pinta’s body returned on Saturday.
“He was also responsible for recruiting terrorist operatives in Judea and Samaria & in Israel, advancing and carrying out terror attacks against Israel and IDF troops,” the IDF added.
Another senior member of the group, identified as Mahmoud Kaheel, was killed in a separate airstrike, according to the IDF.
