The Israeli Air Force struck multiple sites in Yemen’s Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, on Sunday, following a ballistic missile attack on Israel two days earlier.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said strikes targeted a military compound housing the presidential palace, two power stations, and a fuel depot, all of which were allegedly being used for Houthi military activity.

The mission involved over ten Israeli aircraft and multiple mid-air refueling operations. Roughly 35 munitions were dropped on four targets, according to the IDF.
Footage shared on social media showed plumes of fire and smoke rising over Sanaa after the Israeli strikes. According to the Houthis’ Al-Masirah TV, citing Yemen’s Health Ministry, the strikes left at least six people dead and 86 others wounded.

The strikes came after an IAF investigation into a Friday night ballistic missile attack from Yemen determined that, for the first time, the Houthis had used a projectile with a cluster bomb warhead.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes demonstrated Israel’s “strength and determination.” He added, “The Houthi terror regime is learning the hard way that it will pay—and is paying—a very heavy price for its aggression against the State of Israel.”
“For every missile the Houthis launch at Israel, they will pay many times over,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said. “Today we brought upon the Houthis a blow of darkness and blackout—and going forward, there will be a blow of the firstborn as well.”
Sunday’s strikes mark Israel’s 15th attack on Houthi positions since October, most conducted by the air force. The previous strike on August 17 was carried out by navy missile boats.
