The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah military sites in southern Lebanon on Friday. The military said the strikes targeted weapons storage facilities and rocket launchers that posed a threat to Israel and violated the ceasefire agreement.
“The weapons and the rocket launchers in the military sites posed a threat to the State of Israel and constituted a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said. It added that the strikes were intelligence-based and aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported over 25 Israeli airstrikes on several locations, including Yatar, Zibqin, Aita al-Jabal, Beit Yahoun, Jabal al-Rihan, Al-Tayri, and areas near Ansar, Zarariyah, Al-Aishiyah, and Al-Bissariyeh.
The attacks come despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on November 27, which halted more than a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. Under the deal, Israel was supposed to withdraw from Lebanon by February 18, while Hezbollah was required to move its forces north of the Litani River. However, Israel still maintains troops at five strategic locations.
Earlier on Friday, the Lebanese army accused Israel of bringing hundreds of settlers into a religious site in the Al-Abad–Houla border region, calling it a “blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty” and UN Resolution 1701.

Hezbollah has not officially responded to the latest strikes, but tensions along the border remain high. Israel continues to carry out periodic attacks, citing security threats, while Hezbollah is accused of maintaining military positions in the south.
