The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it intercepted a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels before entering Israeli territory early Thursday. According to Israel’s emergency service, no injuries were immediately reported.
The Houthis, backed by Iran, said the attack, which aims to target Ben Gurion International Airport, was in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel resumed military operations after a ceasefire collapsed.
At least two missiles from Yemen triggered sirens in Israel and the occupied West Bank on Thursday, which Israel’s military says were both intercepted. The Houthis claimed one and vowed more attacks after US strikes on Sanaa. pic.twitter.com/d162qoZSOc

While the IDF said they intercepted the missile, Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the hypersonic ballistic missile fired on the airport made a direct hit.
This is the second time Israel was targeted since the collapse of its ceasefire with Hamas earlier this week. Hamas also launched attacks on Israel, with rocket sirens sounding in Tel Aviv on Thursday.
According to the IDF, one rocket was intercepted by air defenses, while the other two landed in open areas. No injuries were reported, though shrapnel struck parts of Rishon Lezion.
The attacks came after Tuesday’s Israeli airstrikes on Gaza killing over 400 people. Israel’s continued strikes on Thursday brought the death toll to almost 500, according to reports.
On Thursday, the IDF said Israeli ground troops expanded operations in Gaza, advancing into Rafah’s Shaboura camp and targeting Hamas strongholds. The IDF said it destroyed a Hamas command center in northern Gaza.
Additionally, the IDF reported that airstrikes targeted Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad sites across Gaza in the past few hours.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Houthi forces claimed to have launched multiple rockets and drones at U.S. warships in the Red Sea, including the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier. The attack followed nonstop U.S. strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen which began on Saturday.
