The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes against Hezbollah air defense sites in the Baalbek region of northeastern Lebanon. This action was in response to the downing of an IDF drone by Hezbollah. The targeted area, known for being a Hezbollah stronghold, experienced strikes on a compound and three additional infrastructures related to air defenses.
Local sources reported that the airstrikes impacted Janta and Sifri, both in the Baalbek District. Despite the significant military action, there were no reported casualties. This recent strike marks the fifth IDF operation in the Baalbek area amidst the ongoing conflict with Gaza.
The drone, identified initially as an Elbit Hermes 450 and later corrected to a Hermes 900, both utilized by the IDF for surveillance and offensive operations, was downed over southern Lebanon.
