The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have expanded their engagement with Hezbollah by carrying out multiple operations in southern Lebanon. This escalation comes in the wake of Hezbollah’s increased aggressiveness, which recently culminated in the death of two Israeli civilians and attacks on key Israeli military installations.

According to a report from the Jerusalem Post, IDF special ground forces undertook operations inside Lebanon near the Ita al-Sha’ab area, neutralizing a terror threat. Additionally, the Israeli Air Force attacked a Hezbollah anti-tank launcher in southern Lebanon. These strikes were part of a broader series of aerial and artillery attacks on Hezbollah targets in the Wadi Saluki area. The IDF’s statement detailed the destruction of dozens of Hezbollah posts, military structures, and weapons infrastructure, accusing Hezbollah of exploiting the Wadi Saluki area for terrorist activities.

Hezbollah-affiliated news outlet al-Mayadeen offers a different account, claiming that IDF soldiers from the Maglan commando unit attempted to infiltrate the border near the al-Raheb military site to plant surveillance devices but were noticed and aborted the mission. The IDF has not provided further details on this operation.
