Israel’s military recently discovered one of the largest Hamas tunnels in Gaza, according to reports from December 18th, 2023. The tunnels have been used by Hamas for supply transportation and carrying out attacks, including the October 7th assault that triggered the present conflict. CBS News was guided by Israeli Defense Force troops through the breach made by Hamas fighters on October 7th at the Erez border crossing into Gaza, where devastation caused by the militants could be seen all along the route. Hamas has been considered a terrorist organization by several countries, including the United States and Israel.
