Hezbollah rocket attacks on Thursday struck Metula and Kiryat Ata, just outside Haifa killing seven civilians. The recent strikes, which occurred a day after Israel killed a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon, raised the total number of Israeli civilian deaths from Hezbollah attacks this year to 39.
The first attack killed five people working in an apple orchard near Metula, including an Israeli farmer and four foreign workers. Later, another strike near Kiryat Ata killed two civilians, identified as Mina Hasson, 60, and her son Karmi Hasson, 21, who were harvesting olives. A man in his 70s was also injured.

Israel’s military reported that Hezbollah fired about 60 rockets and drones at northern Israel throughout the day. Some were intercepted, but others struck open areas, causing casualties. Sirens went off across the Galilee region, warning residents to seek shelter.
The escalation followed an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon that killed Mustafa Ahmad Shahadi, a Hezbollah commander involved in organizing attacks on Israel. Hezbollah’s recent attacks are part of its stated support for Gaza as Israel continues its conflict with Hamas.
These attacks led to large evacuations from northern Israel, with around 60,000 residents leaving border areas. On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. envoys to discuss a potential ceasefire deal.
