Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has revealed that thousands of fighters from Iran-backed groups across the Middle East are ready to support Hezbollah in Lebanon should the ongoing conflict with Israel intensify into full-scale war. In a speech on Wednesday, Nasrallah boasted of the group’s preparedness and acknowledged offers of assistance from various militia leaders.
Nasrallah has received offers of support from militia groups in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and other nations. He noted that these groups are prepared to join the fight if necessary, despite Hezbollah’s current capabilities potentially sufficing for the ongoing conflict.
Officials from Iran-backed factions in Lebanon and Iraq have corroborated Nasrallah’s statements, asserting that fighters from across the region are poised to join Hezbollah if the situation along the Lebanon-Israel border deteriorates further. Many of these fighters are already stationed in Syria and could move into Lebanon quickly due to the porous border.
The potential involvement of foreign fighters highlights broader regional tensions and the unified strategy of the “axis of resistance,” which includes various Iran-backed groups. These groups have stated they will continue fighting until Israel ceases its offensive in Gaza. However, specifics regarding the timing and scale of potential military deployments remain undisclosed.
Experts on Hezbollah suggest that while current engagements primarily rely on advanced technology such as missiles and drones, a prolonged conflict might necessitate additional manpower from outside Lebanon. This aligns with past statements by Nasrallah, indicating readiness to partner with fighters from multiple countries in the event of an all-out war.
Hezbollah officials have expressed a desire to avoid full-scale war but have affirmed their readiness to respond decisively if necessary. The last major conflict between Israel and Hezbollah occurred in 2006, resulting in significant casualties on both sides.
