Hezbollah fired a salvo of rockets at Haifa, Israel’s third-largest city, on Monday, marking the first direct attack on the city since the conflict with the militant group began in October 2023. The rocket strike injured eight people and caused significant damage, according to Israeli authorities. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it targeted a military base south of Haifa using “Fadi 1” missiles. However, local officials called it an attack on civilian areas.

The escalation comes as Israel continues to expand its ground operations into southern Lebanon. The Israeli military, the IDF, responded with airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut. In addition, the IDF reported that Hezbollah fired more than 135 rockets into northern Israel on Sunday.
