Lebanese armed group Hezbollah launched Falaq-2 rockets at a military command center in northern Israel on Saturday, marking the first use of this rocket type by the group. This escalation follows previous attacks using the Falaq-1 rockets. According to a security source cited by Reuters, this is a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
In response, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The IDF confirmed that their fighter jets hit a building in Markaba shortly after Hezbollah operatives were seen entering it. Additionally, four Hezbollah rocket launchers were struck in the areas of Chihine, Zibqin, Hanine, and Houla.
Earlier in the day, a barrage of five rockets fired by Hezbollah at the Galilee Panhandle ignited a fire. The IDF reported that several anti-tank guided missiles were also launched at the Israeli towns of Malkia and Misgav Am, causing damage to buildings and sparking another fire in Misgav Am. Israeli artillery retaliated by shelling the sources of the attacks. Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for at least 10 attacks on northern Israel throughout the day.
