The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group launched a drone attack on Mount Hermon in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Sunday, targeting a key Israeli surveillance center.
In a separate incident, an anti-tank guided missile attack near the northern Israeli community of Zar’it injured three individuals, including an IDF soldier. The victims were transported to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. One, an American civilian aged 31, is in serious condition, while the other two, a civilian and a soldier, sustained lighter injuries.
Israel’s surveillance center on Mount Hermon plays a crucial role in monitoring activities across Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and parts of Saudi Arabia, leveraging its strategic elevation since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that two missiles were fired from Lebanon during the attack. The IDF is currently investigating the presence of the two civilians at the army post during the missile strike.
