A U.S. Air Force A-10 Warthog struck a base held by Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) militias in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province on Wednesday.
The attacks targeted Habbaniyah base, a military installation about 50 miles west of Baghdad that houses both Iraqi army units and PMF fighters. Videos circulating online show at least one A-10 firing its 30-millimeter GAU-8 Avenger cannon at the base.

Iraqi defense ministry and security officials confirmed the strike hit the base’s medical facility and engineering buildings, killing seven Iraqi Army soldiers and wounding 13 others.
Open-source reports said the PMF militia attempted to shoot down the A-10 with a ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun, though the outcome was not reported.

The strike follows a larger U.S. airstrike on the same base on Tuesday, which killed at least 15 PMF fighters, including the group’s senior operations commander in Anbar.
The operations are part of the ongoing U.S. military campaign targeting Iran and its allied forces in the Middle East.
