Newly released footage from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SSO) shows a Ukrainian unit eliminating an eight-man Russian assault group during a covert mission beyond the front line.
Recorded with body-mounted cameras, the video reveals a brief but intense close-quarters firefight between the two sides.
In a Telegram post, the SSO press service said the mission took place during a special reconnaissance operation in enemy territory. The exact location and date of the mission were not disclosed.
The SSO said while monitoring the area, Ukrainian troops identified the movement of an enemy unit. The team’s commander swiftly evaluated the situation and ordered a tactical repositioning.
Once in an advantageous position, the Ukrainian soldiers launched a surprise attack, catching the Russian troops off guard.
“The entire enemy assault group was destroyed,” Ukraine’s SSO said. “Following a search of the enemy bodies, the SSO operators, without any losses, continued their special reconnaissance mission in this operational direction.”
The mission follows a similar SSO operation in late April, where a separate Ukrainian unit reportedly killed 25 North Korean soldiers during a clash in Russia’s Kursk region. In that case, Ukrainian operators supported by drones and traveling in a Humvee opened fire from trenches and withdrew without losses.
