U.S. Defense technology company Anduril Industries has started large-scale production of its Roadrunner loitering interceptor, a drone designed to quickly launch and stop airborne threats.
The company released a photo showing dozens of Roadrunner units, confirming the system has moved from testing to full manufacturing.

Anduril described the drone as a “reusable, vertical take-off and landing operator-supervised Autonomous Air Vehicle.”
Equipped with twin turbojet engines and modular payload options, the aircraft can launch vertically without the need for a booster and achieve high subsonic speeds during flight.
The standard version of the Roadrunner is designed to accommodate modular payloads, enabling it to perform a variety of missions beyond basic interception. These include reconnaissance, surveillance, and electronic warfare.
In contrast, the Roadrunner-M variant is equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead and is integrated with ground-based air defense systems. It can be rapidly launched to detect, intercept, and neutralize a wide range of aerial threats that are up to 100 times more expensive, according to Anduril Industries.
