On April 18, at the Silver Strand Training Complex, Naval Special Warfare held a memorial service to honor Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Christopher J. Chambers and Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Nathan Gage Ingram, who were reported missing at sea earlier this year. The two were involved in a mission targeting a vessel suspected of illegally transporting arms from Iran to Houthi forces in Yemen.
During the memorial, Capt. Blake L. Chaney, Commander of Naval Special Warfare Group 1, praised Chambers and Ingram for embodying the core values of integrity, courage, and selflessness, essential to the Naval Special Warfare community. He emphasized the duty to remember their sacrifice and dedication.
Family members, friends, and colleagues shared memories of Chambers and Ingram, highlighting their character and impact both in and out of uniform. Chambers, who joined the Navy in 2012 and completed SEAL qualification training in 2014, was remembered for his exemplary service and leadership. He received multiple commendations, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat “C.”
Ingram, who enlisted in 2019 and also completed SEAL training in Coronado, California, was noted for his charismatic personality and ability to make lasting impressions on those he met. His military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal among other personal and unit awards.
The ceremony featured the traditional pressing of Tridents into a wooden plaque bearing the names of the fallen SEALs, a symbolic gesture signifying eternal respect and remembrance by their teammates.
