In a video, a wounded Russian soldier begs the Ukrainians to “just finish me.” A wounded Russian soldier is shown pleading with Ukrainians in the southern Kharkiv region in a video that is making the rounds on social media.
The two-minute video, which was shared on Twitter and by a number of regional Telegram channels, depicts a Russian soldier who has his leg caught beneath a fallen wall. In the footage, a Ukrainian soldier can be heard requesting protection from his fellow soldiers so that he can free the captive victim. The Ukrainian soldier asks as he scales barriers to get closer to the Russian soldier, “How’s it going?” “Just kill me,” the Russian soldier begs. The Ukrainian fires, purposefully missing, and says, “That’s too simple; we’re not like you, for crying out loud!” Following the Russian soldier’s plea to take his life, the Ukrainian soldier starts to assist him and enquires about his background. The Ukrainian soldier queries, “Where is your weapon? Where are you from?” The Russian soldier replies that he is a doctor from the riverfront city of Kostroma in western Russia.
