Cobra Gold is a multinational military exercise in Thailand focused on joint military operations, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response to promote regional peace and security in the Indo-Pacific.
Exercise Cobra Gold, a training event aimed at promoting regional peace and security in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific, was held in Thailand from Feb. 28 to March 10, 2023. The event, co-sponsored by Thailand and the United States, featured multinational training on joint military operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, cultural exchanges, and civic action programs, including construction projects in local communities. This year’s exercise was the largest in recent years, with over 7,000 service members from seven fully participating nations and over 20 other nations attending as observers, planners, or limited participants in select events. The event consisted of several field training events focused on tactics, jungle survival skills, marksmanship, and weapons familiarization, with large-scale operations executed by the US and allied forces. Cobra Gold aims to build relationships and enhance the capabilities of all the nations that participate by allowing them to communicate from the tactical level to the operational level.
