Why Belonging Is Key to Building the New Workforce | MIT Sloan

Businesses may increase employee retention and productivity by making employee belonging a priority. Belonging is the feeling of comfort and support one has due to the notion that they are welcomed and cherished: This is particularly vital in growing employment mobility. One of the top three reasons individuals cited quitting their jobs during the Great Resignation was that they “didn’t feel like they belonged at work.” For DEI to expand, it must be confronted head-on. 

This begins with communicating to the whole company that belonging is a fundamental value. The more you discuss belonging, the more your employees will recognize your commitment to helping them experience it. Utilize employee surveys to track your success. Managers need abilities that enable them to foster an atmosphere where belonging may grow. Managers benefit from emotional intelligence characteristics such as receptivity to new ideas and the capacity to drive change.
